Walmart's 'Project Impact'

Walmart's investing hundreds of millions of dollars for an initiative they coin as - Project Impact. Bottom line, its purpose is to eliminate floor clutter to make stores more shopper-friendly.

Only problem - less product in-store is having a negative sales impact for some categories. It's a grey area ... you want stores to be visitor friendly, but the amount of prime merchandising real estate you're giving up is huge when you consider its value.

It will be interesting to see how this all nets out - 2,600 out of more than 4,200 Walmart supercenters will be remodeled within the next 5 years ... 500-600 completed by Jan 31, 2010.

Stay tuned Walmart shoppers.
